It’s believed the Spanakopita we know today dates to the Ottoman Empire\, probably during the occupation of Greece that began in the 15th Century. Its characteristic phyllo\, or filo\, comes from the Greek word φύλλο\, meaning leaf and is perfectly symbolized with the pie’s thin and crispy layers of the crust. \nJoin the dynamic duo of cooking aficionados Nancy Jimmerson and Genie Gekas Patterson in the kouzina (kitchen) as they share their Spano secrets as you cook along making the most incredible recipe.
