SUMMARY:Zoom Class: Greek Kouzina - Baklava with Nancy Jimmerson
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, Dec. 11\, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Zoom Class: Greek Kouzina – Baklava with Nancy Jimmerson. $40 per household. \nBaklava is on the menu for December’s Greek Kouzina. The heavenly combination – phyllo\, nuts\, honey – yum\, is a perfect addition to your holiday repertoire! \nStep by step\, layer by layer\, you’ll learn from the master as Nancy guides you to make the most incredible tasting and beautiful baklava. \nIt’s widely believed the Assyrians first made the pastry in the 8th century B.C.\, baking a few layers of dough with chopped nuts in between topped with a thick honey syrup to make it sweet. Mesopotamia was frequented by Greek seamen and merchants and when they discovered the dessert\, it traveled to Athens. The Greek contribution was significant with the addition of phyllo instead of bread and by the 3rd century B.C. was a delicacy for wealthy Greek families. \nBaklava made its way to America via Greek and Middle Eastern immigrants. While sweet\, it’s nutritious – nuts are good for the heart and a rich source of fiber\, magnesium\, copper\, vitamin E\, folic acid and omega 3 fatty acids. \nCLASS NOTES: This is a cook along class offered live via the Zoom app. You’ll receive an email with recipes and class details 5 days in advance. Please submit an email address you frequently check. Some time-consuming steps may need to be prepared in advance. Virtual classes are nonrefundable and the Zoom link is not transferable or shareable. \nREGISTER AND PAY AT SHOPIFY \nSponsored in part by TucsonFoodie.com. Tucson’s best restaurants\, covered daily.

Zoom Class: Greek Kouzina – Ouzo Cake with Nancy Jimmerson & Genie Gekas Patterson. $40 per household. \nThe November Greek Kouzina features a Tucson spin on a favorite sweet treat – Ouzo Keik (cake). What makes this light cake so special? Ouzo\, of course! And a honey syrup that’s poured over the walnut cake as soon as it come out of the oven\, making it practically melt in your mouth. \nAncient Greek desserts incorporated a lot of nuts and honey into their sweet preparations.
