SUMMARY:Asian Food Adventure – Bánh Xèo – Savory Vietnamese Crepes
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 19\, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Asian Food Adventure – Bánh Xèo – Savory Vietnamese Crepes with Chef Jackie Tran. Cost: $75.00 per person.   \nBánh xèo is a Vietnamese essential that strangely hasn’t caught on in America like pho or banh mi. But it’s no less tasty or memorable. In fact\, it used to be Chef Jackie Tran’s go-to dish to cook whenever he had a date over. It’s fast and easy to make with ingredients you can gather in a single trip to the Asian market. \nThe thin\, turmeric-yellow crispy crepe serves as a canvas for bean sprouts and whatever protein you want — fatty pork and shrimp are the most popular choices. Break off a piece of the crepe\, wrap it in some fresh greens and herbs\, and dip it into Vietnam’s quintessential sauce\, nuoc cham. \nAlso a renowned food photographer and writer\, he’ll also share his tips for creating Instagram-worthy photos. \nCLASS NOTES: The in-person class\, limited to 16\, will be held at the Catalina United Methodist Church kitchen\, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. You’ll receive an email with class details (everything you’ll need will be provided) 3 days in advance. Please use an email address you frequently check. SUMMARY:What's the Buzz – Honey Tasting with Noel Patterson
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, April 27\, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. What’s the Buzz – Honey Tasting with Noel Patterson. Cost: $75.00 per person. \nLike wine\, cheese and chocolate\, honey has joined the ranks as an artisanal obsession. Experience Sonoran Desert honey like never before and taste it like a sommelier tastes wine with beekeeper and sommelier Noel Patterson of Dos Manos Apiaries. You’ll explore and learn how flowers and terroir affects its characteristics. \nHoney has a circuitous journey before it ends up in a jar. Climate\, terroir and available botanical sources are the starting points. Then it’s up to the honeybees to visit the flowers and the activity of the beekeeper concludes the process. \nAs you sample each of the 6 offerings on fresh fruits\, cheeses and nuts\, Noel will guide you tracing what you smell and taste to the flora and exact Southern Arizona origin location. \nYou’ll discover how each honey is a unique reflection of the time and place in which it was harvested\, giving you the knowledge to make sustainable and delicious choices when buying it. \nCLASS NOTES: The in-person class\, limited to 16\, will be held at the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance CATALYST Teaching Kitchen at the Tucson Mall\, 4500 N. Oracle Road\, Suite 110. You’ll receive an email with class details (everything you’ll need will be provided) 3 days in advance. Please use an email address you frequently check.
