Sponsored by AARP\, the class is free. \nHealthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or boring while enjoying a variety of foods from different food groups – fruits\, vegetables\, whole grains\, lean meats\, fish\, eggs\, nuts\, seeds\, legumes\, dairy products\, and healthy fats. \nIn this Eat Well & Age Gracefully series class\, sponsored by AARP\, Veggie Dim Sum with Dipping Sauce\, Almond Cookies\, and Tea are on Chef Barry Infuso’s menu. Joining Chef Barry will be a very special guest – his wife\, Jashio Pei – who’ll take you on a culinary journey reflecting her heritage.   \nYou’ll learn the secrets to creating the perfect dough\, the art of folding your potstickers\, and how to cook them to achieve that irresistible crispy bottom. Plus\, you’ll whip up a tangy dipping sauce that perfectly complements the flavors of your homemade dim sum. Almond cookies and tea round out the menu. \nCLASS NOTES: We experience a high number of people who cancel at the last minute or don’t show up for the Eat Well & Age Gracefully classes. Please register only if you’re committed to attending. You must include a phone number for your registration to be valid. While there’s always a waiting list\, it can be challenging to fill seats at the last minute and disappointing when guests don’t show up. \nThe class\, limited to 16 and for ages 21+\, will be held at the Catalina United Methodist Church kitchen\, 2700 E. Cost: $80.00 per person. \nChorizo\, where vibrant flavors take flight\, are on the menu for this month’s hands-on class\, learning the secrets to seasoning and techniques that bring out the best in these spicy delicacies. \nYou’ll make and take home 2 pounds – one pound of each – ready to cook; in class you’ll press your own corn tortillas and make chorizo/cheese quesadillas with fruit pico de gallo. Whether you’re a chorizo connoisseur or a curious cook\, this class promises a sizzling experience that will make your palate dance. Spice up your skills and savor the satisfaction of homemade chorizo! \nRed chorizo’s roots are from the Iberian Peninsula; our beef version takes its influence from the Sonoran Frontera. Garlic\, chilis\, cumin\, and paprika\, which gives it its signature red hue\, provide robust flavor. It’s evolved from primitive preservation methods to become a staple in Spanish and Mexican cuisine\, celebrated for its versatility in dishes from tapas to stews. \nGreen chorizo\, a vibrant twist on the traditional Mexican sausage\, combines the rich flavors of pork with the fresh zest of green herbs\, tomatillos\, chilies\, and spinach to enhance its color and flavor.
