Benefit from the knowledge and experience of some of Tucson’s most popular chefs! Classes provide culinary adventures in an array of cuisines, specialties, techniques, and traditions designed to suit the most avid learning appetites.

Classes center around the calendar, seasons, current culinary trends, and what’s happening in the Old Pueblo. No matter your skill level, we offer classes that are right for you.

Regular Group Classes

Satisfy your appetite for culinary know-how and hone your kitchen skills in a clean, safe, congenial learning environment. Classes accommodate 8-25 students for Demonstration and Hands-on classes.

Demonstration classes: Students observe the chef prepare the recipes. You’ll have a tasting of each dish prepared and take home any left-overs.

Hands-on classes: Students work together in small groups to prepare all or part of the menu dishes under chef’s direction. You’ll enjoy tastings of each dish and take home any left-overs.

Kids & Teen Classes

Teaching kids and teens to cook helps inspire confident and creative cooks, healthier meals, and fun in the kitchen.

Classes involve hands-on learning about ingredients,  organizing a kitchen, personal hygiene and food safety, and cooking and baking techniques.

They’ll learn where food comes from and how to create healthy, nutritious meals that are also delicious.

Junior Chefs ages 7-12 are introduced to basic kitchen skills – measuring, mixing, kneading, working cleanly and safely in the kitchen – and new foods.

Junior Chefs ages 13 to 17 are guided in expanding their kitchen skills; they’ll explore exotic ingredients and learn simple yet sophisticated menus they’ll enjoy preparing at home.

Special Events: Private Parties,

Dream it and we’ll help you plan an unforgettable event! Levels of participation: Chef demonstrations, hands-on cooking, or a combination of both.

You’ll have a choice of themed events and menus or a special menu tailored to your needs, which includes a full meal or choice of another course. Guests begin their three-hour adventure in cooking with appetizers, followed by a cooking or baking class and dining on the meal they helped prepare. We’ll provide our complete support, from beginning to end, and recipes from your menu.

Our chefs will work alongside your guests throughout the event to ensure they’re at ease in the kitchen and excited to try what they’ve learned. Reluctant cooks will be encouraged to participate at their own comfort level.

Party favors? We can help you customize aprons or other cooking accessories with names and/or logos. A Flying Aprons Tucson Gift Card also makes a great favor!

We’ll contact you within 48 hours to discuss details like available dates, attendance, your plans, pricing, etc. Please book events at least four weeks in advance, or longer if during the holidays season.

Once we’ve confirmed the details of your event, we’ll send a contract finalizing our agreement. We require a 50% deposit, payable by check or credit/debit card, at the time of contract to secure your reservation.

At least 10 days before your event, we’ll confirm the menu, guest count, and any other extras you may need.

Final payment will be processed at the conclusion of your event. We’re looking forward to a great kitchen adventure!

Private Parties

Delicious fun awaits you and your guests celebrating a special occasion: A birthday, anniversary, bridal or baby shower, rehearsal dinner, family reunion, holiday party, girls’/guys’ night out, or any other landmark moment.

You can arrange for a hands-on cooking experience, a cooking demonstration, or a combination of both. Our talented chefs, working side by side with your guests, will ensure that both the meal and the moments are memorable.

With a customized menu to reflect the occasion and your guests’ tastes, they’ll learn some cooking skills, pick up useful tips, have fun while preparing a delicious meal, and make long lasting memories.

Kids & Teen Parties

Don’t settle for the same old (boring) party! A two-hour Flying Aprons Tucson party is guaranteed fun with hands-on experiences and menus designed for kids ages 7-12 and teens ages 13-17.

Junior Chefs will have a blast preparing a variety of dishes with special attention and instruction from a professional chef with experience teaching kids and teens.

With their newly-acquired knowledge and skills, they’ll be able to confidently prepare the recipes they learned. An added bonus – party guests will be able to wow their families with their cooking prowess.

Corporate Events & Team Building

Get your team out of the office and into the Flying Aprons Tucson kitchen! Whether the goal is to set a positive tone for staff training, team building, a board meeting, a retreat, a holiday party, or entertaining visiting clients, there’s no better way than to cook together.

Our professional chefs will lead team members or guests through the steps to achieving the goal of a delicious shared meal. The experience can promote teamwork – goal setting, effective communication, task delegation, efficiency, shared responsibility, and cooperation.

You choose the level of participation – demonstration, hands-on, or a combination of both and we’ll customize the menu to reflect your team’s tastes. Isn’t this the recipe for success you’ve been looking for?

Cooking Class FAQs

  • We accommodate 8-25 students for demonstration and hands-on classes.
  • Demonstration classes: Students observe the chef prepare the recipes. Hands-on classes: Students work together in small groups to prepare all or part of the menu dishes under chef’s direction. In both types of classes, you’ll enjoy tastings of each dish. Classes where you’ll take food home will be noted
  • Wear comfortable clothing and non-skid closed toe shoes.
  • Long hair needs to be tied back.
  • We’ll provide you with an apron for use during class.
  • Classes are 2-2.5 hours unless otherwise stated.
  • Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Your group may extend its time for an additional charge for kitchen rental and the chef.
  • All equipment needed is provided for use during class.
  • Printed recipes will be provided. You may want to bring pen and paper to take notes.
  • Classmates will have varied skill levels.
  • We reserve the right to cancel a class if enrollment is too low but will let you know by phone or email and promptly issue a refund.
  • Our kitchen is not a gluten or nut-free environment, though we’ll do our best to accommodate food sensitivities and allergies. However, we can’t change class menus or guarantee those with diet restrictions will be able to eat everything made in class. Please indicate any allergies when registering and give the information to the chef at the beginning of your class.
  • Food is cooked in class. In some classes, food you’ll consume may contain raw or under-cooked meats and fish. Consuming raw or under-cooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness. Examples: sushi, steak tartare, rare hamburger, raw egg in Caesar dressing.
  • You must be 18 or older to take classes. For those under 18, we offer kids classes for ages 7-12, teen classes for ages 13-17, and Family Funday Sunday classes.
  • Gift Cards are non-refundable and can’t be redeemed for cash, but you can re-gift them and they never expire.
  • Alcoholic beverages are NOT permitted.
