The November Greek Kouzina features a Tucson spin on a favorite sweet treat – Ouzo Keik (cake). What makes this light cake so special? Ouzo, of course! And a honey syrup that’s poured over the walnut cake as soon as it come out of the oven, making it practically melt in your mouth.

Ancient Greek desserts incorporated a lot of nuts and honey into their sweet preparations. Walnuts were abundantly available, much more so than wheat and other protein-rich grains, which were scarce and only used to make bread.
