Get the Más Out of Masa
December 12 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM$75.00
Monday, December 12, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Get the Más Out of Masa with Chef Juan Almanza. Cost: $75.00 per person.
Homemade masa is a labor of love – soaking the corn for hours, hand grinding, then shaping the dough. It’s richness is unrivaled when scratch made. El Taco Rustico Chef/Owner Juan Almanza will do all that work ahead of time.
You’ll press tortillas for enchilada en tomatala (tomato sauce), enchilada with red sauce, make sopes (also known as picadita, originating in central and southern Mexico) and gorditas (masa stuffed with meat or other fillings). You’ll also cook three filling options: Chicken with veggies, border-style shredded beef with potatoes and veggie calabacitas con queso, as well as accompanying salsas and a variety of garnishes.
CLASS NOTES: The class, limited to 16, will be held at the Catalina United Methodist Church kitchen, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. You’ll receive an email with class details (everything you’ll need will be provided) 3 days in advance. Please use an email address you frequently check.
