Monday, February 28, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. In-person class: Sushi with Sushi on Oracle Chef/Partner Tommy Begay. Cost: $75.00 per person.
Experience the thrill of making sushi – it’s an art form as well as a treat for your taste buds. Learn to create your favorite rolls with high-quality choices to make you a sushi artist. Sushi on Oracle Chef/Partner Tommy Begay III will guide you step-by-step and share his secrets from making the seasoned rice, lining the nori sheets, topping with ingredients and perfecting the rolling.
On the menu: Veggie Rolls using nori seaweed sheets and the sushi mat we’re giving you; Tamagoyaki Temaki Zushi, cone-shaped hand-rolled sushi filled with the slightly sweet and custardy texture Japanese rolled omelet resembling mini bars of golden pillows; and Shrimp Nigiri, an oval-shaped mound of rice with a boiled shrimp on top. The word nigiri comes from the Japanese nigirizushi, which translates as “hand-pressed sushi.” We’ll also have the classic sushi accompaniments – soy and ponzu sauces, wasabi and pickled ginger.
