The visually stunning French macaron is a perfect crisp, but chewy shell, silky buttercream or ganache filling sandwiched together creating an elegant, beautiful and delicious treat adored by all. They’re also gluten free.
Uncover the mysteries of their art and science with BATA Pastry Chef Kayla Draper as she shares her secrets and tips while guiding you step-by-step as you become an expert in making this delicate cookie.
You’ll make Funfetti – colorful sprinkles baked on the cookie that’s filled with vanilla buttercream and Chocolate and Strawberry mini cakes – an oversized deep red shell chockfull with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries. You’ll learn the basics of aging egg whites, beating them to the right consistency, piping perfect circles, how to tell when they’re done and a variety of filling options so you can mix and match flavor combinations you like.
CLASS NOTES: The class, limited to 16, will be held at the Catalina United Methodist Church kitchen, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. You’ll receive an email with class details (everything you’ll need will be provided) 3 days in advance. Please use an email address you frequently check. All classes, workshops and events are nonrefundable. You can request a transfer to a different class or event up to 7 days prior to the class or event. Culinary Boot Camps or workshops require a 14-day notification. Your request must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
